Become a Faculty Sponsor
Studies have shown the value of internship placement and community service learning programs. A strong correlation exists between students participating in service learning courses and increased civic responsibility (Gray, Ondaatje, & Zakaras, 1999). A report released by the California Campus Compact discusses many of the benefits students experience as a result of service learning programs. Students experience greater diversity, develop better understanding of academic content, build professional skills, and develop a greater sense of self-efficacy among other things.
CPSL is actively engaged in recruiting faculty sponsors from departments campus wide. We can help you to place students in internship and volunteer positions that are related to the students major through our Human Corps and Internship Programs, or in positions that will compliment specific classes through our Service Learning Program.
CPSL is dependent  upon CSUB faculty involvement and input. It is the cooperation and coordination between CPSL and our faculty sponsors that makes the experience of interning, volunteering, and service learning the valuable and rewarding experience that it is.
