Am I an Alcoholic?

Answer yes or no to the following questions:
  1. Have you ever decided to stop drinking for a week or so, but it only lasted a couple of days?

  2. Do you wish people would mind their own business about your drinking?

  3. Have you ever switched from one kind of drink to another in hope that you wouldn't get drunk?

  4. Have you had to have an eye-opener upon awakening during the past year?

  5. Do you envy people who can drink without getting into trouble?

  6. Do you need a drink to get started, or to stop shaking?

  7. Have you had problems connected with drinking during the past year?

  8. Has your drinking caused trouble at home?

  9. Do you ever try to get "extra" drinks at a party because you do not get enough?

  10. Do you tell yourself you can stop drinking anytime you want to, but you don't stop?

  11. Do you have "blackouts"?

  12. Have you ever felt your life would be better if you didn't drink?

If you answered yes four or more times, you might be in some serious trouble.

Be honest with yourself, you have to live with your problem, but your friends and family are affected too.
