Disabled Students and Guest Accommodations




If you or your guests have a physical or mental disability and need accommodations to access commencement ceremonies, please contact the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) at 661/654-3360. Information on specific accommodations can be obtained by calling SSD. Sign language interpreters are available at all commencement ceremonies.

Business and Public Administration, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, and School of Education (Icardo Center ceremonies)

Parking: Parking Lot I located South of the Icardo Center has designated spaces for disabled parking. As you are heading south on Gosford, turn right on Camino Media and head west. Turn right at the CSUB entrance and head north on Roadrunner Drive. Disabled parking spaces are available in the northern section of Parking Lot I. Once you are on the campus, please indicate your need to utilize disabled parking, and Public Safety staff will further assist you.

Wheelchair Seating: Wheelchair accessible seating is available on the north side of the Icardo Center. This seating area is limited and cannot be reserved. As you enter the Icardo Center , proceed to your left and head towards Section 7-11. A designated seating area for persons in wheelchairs will be available in front of Sections 8, 9, and 10. Because seating is limited, one attendant per person in a wheelchair will be allowed to sit in this area during the ceremony.

Disabled Seating: Disabled seating for persons with mobility disabilities is available throughout the Icardo Center. The first row of all seating is designated for persons with mobility disabilities. This seating is limited and cannot be reserved. One attendant per disabled guest will be allowed in this seating area.

Sign Language Interpreters: Sign Language Interpreters will be located on the south side of the Icardo Center. As you enter the Icardo Center, proceed to your right and head towards Section 5. Designated seating for those persons utilizing interpreting services is available in Section 5.

Humanities and Social Science (Amphitheater)

Parking: Parking Lot D, located on the North side of the Walter Stiern Library, is designated for disabled parking. As you are heading west on Stockdale Highway, you will enter the campus on Don Hart Drive East. Please do not attempt to enter campus from Don Hart Drive West as it will be closed. Once you are on the campus, please remain in the right lane and indicate your need to utilize disabled parking. Public Safety staff at Don Hart East and Don Hart Drive will further assist you.

If you or your guests utilize a wheelchair for mobility, please indicate this to the Public Safety staff at the entrance to Parking Lot D and Don Hart Drive. They will direct you to the wheelchair pick-up and drop-off location. You will be allowed to pick up and drop off only at this location (do not leave your car unattended). After you drop off your guest(s), please proceed to Parking Lot D to park.

If you or your guests have any other impairments that limit your mobility, please proceed to Parking Lot D. Cart service will be available to and from Parking Lot D. Please note that the carts are not wheelchair accessible. An information table will be located in Parking Lot D. Please check-in at this table to utilize cart service.

Disabled Parking Passes: In our attempt to more efficiently plan for the number of disabled parking spaces, we are requesting you obtain a Disabled Parking Pass prior to the commencement ceremony. A pass may be acquired at either Public Safety or the Office of Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD). Please display this pass in your vehicle in order to further facilitate your entry into Parking Lot D.

Disabled Seating: Disabled seating for persons who have limited mobility is available north of Don Hart Drive on the west side of the amphitheater. Wheelchair accessible seating is limited and cannot be reserved. One attendant per disabled guest will be allowed in this seating area.

Sign Language Interpreters: Designated seating for those persons utilizing interpreting services is available on the east side of the amphitheater.
