Assembly and Processional

Amphitheatre Assembly 

Please check the schedule of commencement ceremonies for the date and time.

  • Assemble at the Pedestrian Mall on the Red Brick Road, near lot C, south of the Amphitheatre. 
  • Arrive at least 45 minutes before the processional start time, unless otherwise noted for your school. See Ceremonies by School.

At your assembly area, faculty marshals and student ushers will organize the processional lines. Candidates line up behind the signs designating their departments.

Icardo Center Assembly 

Please check the schedule of commencement ceremonies for the date and time.

  • Assemble at the grass area west of the Hillman Aquatic Center, near lot I, south of the Icardo Center. 
  • Arrive at least 45 minutes before the processional start time, unless otherwise noted for your school. See Ceremonies by School.

At your assembly area, faculty marshals and student ushers will organize the processional lines. Candidates line up behind the signs designating their departments.

Commencement Card Forms

Please pick-up your name card at the appropriate table located on the Red Brick Road.  Name cards will be in alpha order by your LAST name. School representatives will use these cards to announce your name as you walk across the stage.  Commencement photographers will send photo proofs to the address listed on your card.

Ceremony

The processional is led by the faculty marshals and student ushers carrying your department or major sign. 

It will enter the commencement site from various directions, providing a colorful view of candidates and faculty in their full academic regalia.

After arriving at your seat, please remain standing until the faculty marshal signals you to sit.

Following closing remarks by the dean or President, the grand marshal will lead the recessional of graduates and dignitaries from the commencement site back to the assembly area. 



Inclement Weather

In the case of inclement weather, candidates should gather in the DDH hallway.  At your assembly area, faculty marshals and student ushers will organize the processional lines. Candidates will line up behind the signs designating their departments.

Decorum

Please help make commencement a pleasant experience by respecting other participants and guests.

Remain in your seat for the entire ceremony. Candidates and guests may not exit the venue until the ceremony concludes.

Prohibited items include:

  • Signs
  • Fireworks
  • Bottles and cans
  • Beach balls and balloons
  • Alcohol

People who violate these rules will be escorted out of the ceremony.
