Activities and Services
All students in the program participate in individual pre-college advising once a month for approximately 20-30 minutes. The topics discussed each year are below:
Advising sessions include goal setting, the value of an education, getting involved, transcript review, test taking and study skills, and college basics.
Advising sessions include field experience, career exploration, standardized tests, transcript review, systems of higher education, and financial aid.
Advising sessions include field experience, AP/Honors courses, Early Assessment Program, transcript review, college admissions, and choosing the right college.
Advising sessions include transcript review, admissions and placement exams, financial aid, time management, and planning for the future. Additionally, pre-college advisors assist with college applications and financial aid during senior year.
Pre-college advisors also participate in workshops and events at the school sites and California State University, Bakersfield.
