Gladys Garcia – Director
Mrs. Garcia has been working for the Children’s Center for 6 months. She holds an A. A degree in Child Development, B. S. Degree in Human Development and M.S. Degree in Administration. Mrs. Garcia started her career as a Director/Teacher for Delano Union School District in 1994. She has been an Infant and Toddler Trainer through West Ed. and the California Department of Education for the past 9 years. Mrs. Garcia’s passion for Early Childhood Education brought her to CSUB Children’s Center last Summer and she is enjoying every minute she spends working with staff, children and families.

Miss Benavides holds a B.A. Degree in Child, Adolescents and Family Studies from CSUB. She has been working for the Children’s Center in a variety of capacities for the past six years. Miss Benavides feels Blessed to be able to contribute to the success of the children at CSUB Children’s Center.

Kristine Smith – Administrative Assistant
Kristine Smith – Administrative Assistant
Mrs. Smith graduated from Brigham Young University with a B.A. in Child Development. She moved to Bakersfield over 30 years ago and has been working at the Children’s Center during this time. Mrs. Smith has enjoyed spending time with the children and staff as well as watching the Children’s Center expand.
Cynthia Quinonez-Otero – Site Supervisor

Mrs. Quinonez joined the Children’s Center in 2001 as a Student Assistant. She later became a teacher and is currently a Site Supervisor. She holds a B. A. Degree in Child, Adolescents and Family Studies, and has a M.S. degree in Counseling. Among the things Ms. Quinonez loves most about working at the Children’s Center is that every day is new and exciting, no day is the same as last.
Jessica Vasquez - Teacher

Ms. Vasquez has over 10 years experience in the Child Development field. She holds an A.S. degree in Early Childhood Development and a B.A. degree in Interdisciplinary studies with a multiple subject teaching credential.
Maria McWhorter - Cook
Maria McWhorter – Cook
Mrs. McWhorter graduated from the Culinary Arts and Cooking Apprenticeship Program at Bakersfield College. She is Serv-Safe certified and has been a staff member at the Children's Center for 15 years.
