Introduction to the Evidence Based Resume using WHO?

The Evidence Based Resume Development Method is used to Evaluate your Experiences.

We refer to the Evaluation Tool as - WHO!

W = What did you do?

H = How did you do it?

O = Outcome associated with what you did

Steps for creating an Evidence Based Resume – Using WHO

Step OneWHAT - Identify WHAT you did (or do) at work, volunteering, or any other relevant experiences.  Make a list of What you did (or do)!

Step TwoHOW - Review your list of what you did (or do) and start thinking about HOW you accomplish this work – what skills do you use, what methods, strategies or techniques do you use to accomplish the work?  Next to your What List, Add How!

Step ThreeOUTCOME - What’s the Outcome, Impact or Value of this work?

Write down the outcome!  Next to your What and How List, Add an Outcome!

Try to write What, How and Outcome for every task associated with your experiences.  If you have a difficult time producing all three, write What & How, OR, What and Outcome. That’s good too!

Step Four:  Refine your statements using sample resumes and examples in RunnerLink’s Resume Builder module!  Use action words to create a more polished and professional feel.

Step Five:  Submit your resume for review using Resume Builder!  The professional staff in the CECE will help you perfect the final version!
