Developing an Internship

One of the best ways for a student to explore a career is to participate in an internship. We believe companies are also enriched by hiring an intern as well. Internships are a great way for an employer to influence the professional life of a student as well as test out talent for potential full-time hiring! Internships are a win-win proposition for both the student and employer. At CSUB, employers can opt to participate in an academic internship OR a non-academic internship.

Academic Internships

Academic internships are administered through the CSUB Community Partnerships and Service Learning Office, (CPSL).

An academic internship is the preferred program for CSUB students.

Academic internships are essentially a three way partnership between the company, the CPSL and the relevant academic department.

Academic internships make it possible for students to receive academic credit and the internship is directly related to the student's major.

For more information about Academic Internships, please contact the Community Partnerships and Service Learning Office at CSUB.

Non-Academic Internships...

Non-academic internships do not include a three way partnership and are not administered through CSUB.

Non-academic internships DO provide skill-building experiences, offer opportunities for students to build confidence and create a professional network for the student. And the company has the opportunity to assess the potential of the student for possible full-time employment.
