Hello, my name is Sonia Quevedo, and I have been with the CAMP Program since the year 2000. Throughout the years, I have had the opportunity to enhance my knowledge in the educational field. Most of all, I have been inspired by the students because of their dedication to make a difference in their lives. Their inspiration has given me the aspiration to seek higher education within myself.
ďItís been a journey and within that journey Iíve gained many friendshipsĒ
As an Arvin High Alumni and first generation family member, Maricela RamŪrez obtained both her B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Spanish and M.A. in Education with a concentration in Counseling/ Pupil Personnel Services Credential at California State University, Bakersfield.
Maricela is enthusiastic and honored to be working with the migrant population as an Advocate/ Liaison, to the community agencies, parents, and student population. To help improve the educational outcomes for Hispanic migrant students, she champions efforts to ensure that every student/parent has the awareness/tools on how to become college admissible, succeed, and graduate from a higher education institution. Hence, EMPOWERING parents, students and the community is her daily endeavor, as a Latina Educator.
Hello everyone! Welcome to CSUB. Hope youíre all doing great. A little about myself, I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. Hi everybody! Iím a senior here at CSUB with a double major in Political Science and Linguistics. Iíve been the student assistant for CAMP since the spring quarter of 2008. Recently I received a scholarship to study abroad and spent my summer in Istanbul, Turkey. It was an amazing opportunity and I will never forget my time there. I love working for CAMP because I get the chance to interact with students everyday.
Since 2003, I have been the CAMP English tutor and have reaped the rewards of helping migrant students succeed in college.
