CAMP Summer Residential Program

The CAMP Summer Residential Program is designed to help incoming freshmen transition into university life. The CAMP Summer Residential Program consist of an intensive four-week academic program aimed at developing the skills necessary to succeed in college. In addition to a full academic course load, CAMP students are required to live on campus. The Residential Housing units offer students the opportunity to develop social skills by living in a tightly-integrated collegiate community. Students are given the opportunity to learn outside the classroom. Living with other students, sharing ideas and personal philosophies provides the students with an unprecedented learning experience that enriches both their minds and social well-being.

CAMP Summer Academic Component

Each student is required to take the following University level courses:

  • Mathematics Course
  • English Composition Course
  • Math and English Tutoring
  • Grammar Course
  • Succeeding in College Course

During the summer, students will take university level coursework and earn university credits. By participating in the summer program, students will be given an insight into the policies and academic expectations demanded of them as university students. Student apprehension of interacting with university professors and administrators is overcome by student day-to-day involvement with these individuals.

CAMP Residential Life Component

Each student will be given the opportunity to experience:

  • Interaction with faculty and campus administrators
  • College-life in a collegiate environment
  • Interaction with other first-time freshmen
  • Participation in social activities
  • Develop life-long friends

Students interact with other first-time freshmen from the local area and the state of California. CAMP collaborates with state-wide Migrant Educational Regional Directors to assist all migrant students achieve their dreams of obtaining a higher education.

CAMP provides an educational opportunity that extends beyond the classroom learning environment.
