Available for MBA Graduate Students
MBA Tuition Fee Grant
To be considered for a CSU MBA tuition fee grant, graduate students must: (1) be admitted and enrolled in the MBA program; (2) be a California resident; (3) have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on file; (4) have an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) of no greater than sixty percent (60%) of the standard academic year cost of attendance for MBA students residing off-campus.; and (5) have demonstrated financial need.
The maximum MBA tuition fee grant shall not exceed the amount of Graduate Professional Business Tuition Fees assessed for the term. Funds are limited. Recipients will be selected after Census Day each term, with priority being given to those students who submitted their FAFSA on or before March 2 and have the lowest EFCs.
State University Grant
The State University Grant (SUG) is unique to the California State University (CSU) system and is funded from a percentage of CSU system-wide student tuition fee revenues. Limited allocations are provided to campuses based on their enrollment levels and other student data. Award amounts may vary by EFC and available funds. SUG funds are normally awarded for the fall, winter, and spring terms only. General eligibility requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

Be admitted to and enrolled at least half-time at a CSU campus as an undergraduate, Teacher Credential, or graduate student;

Be classified as a California resident for financial aid and tuition fee payment purposes;

Pay the State University Tuition Fee (e.g., students enrolled in Extended University courses are not eligible, nor are students who do not pay SUF because of some other form of aid);

Have a valid FAFSA on file for the corresponding academic year;
Demonstrate financial need according to the FAFSA need analysis;
Not be in default of a student loan;
Not owe a repayment of previously received student aid;
Be making satisfactory academic progress according to the standards established for financial aid purposes by the CSU campus; and
Have an eligible EFC according to the CSU campus SUG awarding methodology.
Priority awarding consideration will be given to students who are considered "on-time" financial aid applicants, have exceptional financial "need," are enrolled full-time, and who have not exceeded 150% of the unit requirement for graduation from their first undergraduate, teacher credential, or graduate degree program.
CSUB Alumni Scholarships
The Alumni Association has awarded over $25,000 in student scholarships since 1993. The Alumni Scholarship Endowment was established in 1990 with a gift of $5,000 and has now reached almost $100,000. As the endowment grows, so will the monies available for student scholarships.
The first awards were made during the 1993-1994 academic year. Eligibility for the Alumni Scholarships is for alumni of CSUB who have been accepted to a CSUB graduate or credential program; maintain of a 3.0 grade point average; demonstrate financial need, and participate in extracurricular activities that benefit the community and the university.

Federal Student Aid (FSA) programs
Federal Stafford Loans are Student Loans that must be repaid and are available to both undergraduate and graduate students.
- If your college participates in the Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program, the federal government provides the funds for the Stafford Loan.
- First-year undergraduates are eligible for loans up to $5,500. Amounts increase for subsequent years of study, with higher amounts for graduate students. The interest rates may vary based on when the loan is borrowed. There are two types of Stafford Loans:
- Subsidized Stafford loan - A loan for which the government pays the interest while you are in school, during grace periods, and during any deferment periods.
- Unsubsidized Stafford loan - A loan for which you are responsible for paying all the interest that accrues at any point in time.
Graduate and Professional Student PLUS Loan (Grad PLUS). The Higher Education Reconciliation Act of 2005 (the HERA), Pub. L. 109-171, made changes to the loan programs under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965. As a result of the HERA, graduate and professional students are now eligible to borrow under the PLUS Loan Program, effective with loans originated on or after July 1, 2006.
Campus-Based Programs are financial aid programs administered by participating schools. There is one Campus-Based program for grad students:
- Federal Work-study provides jobs to undergraduate and graduate students, allowing them to earn money to pay education expenses.
