Effective March 25, 2013, the Advising Center will no longer be able to offer walk-in Advising. Due to recent office downsizing there will not be enough resources available to sustain walk-in advising. Advising will be by APPOINTMENT ONLY. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
In an effort to maintain green standards at CSUB, the Advising Center will no longer be able to print class schedules, courses offered, or duplicate major outlines. Class schedules and courses available can be found on your MyCSUB (link to mycsub page please) account. In the past there was no way to search for Upper Division General Education or 1-2 unit courses through MYCSUB and the Advising Center provided a list of courses that qualified in these area; However, due to the implementation of new Advanced Search functioning, the Advising Center will no longer print these courses effective March 25, 2013. If you are unfamiliar with how to search for these types of courses please view the Searching for Classes Powerpoint below.
Additionally, you will receive 1 copy of your major outline at your first appointment. It is your responsibility to keep this copy for your records. If you do need a replacement outline, the Advising Center can email you a copy, but you will be responsible for printing it out. The Advising Center will no longer print replacement outliness effective March 11, 2013.
The first step after being admitted to CSUB AV is to attend an Orientation. All students must attend an Orientation in order to register for their first quarter classes. At Orientation students will receive information about the student services on our local campus, register for classes, and may have the opportunity to meet a faculty member from their major (if available). At this time, due to budget and time constraints it is not possible to meet with an academic advisor to have an in depth discussion of the classes required for their program of study, but students are encouraged to make an appointment for a later date. The University Advising Center (UAC) can help students choose classes for subsequent quarters by appointments Monday ñ Friday. Appointments can be made from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm Monday ñ Thursday and from 9am-12pm on Fridays.
Students are urged to be CSU General Education certified prior to applying and attending CSUB AV. All prerequisites and general education requirements must be taken at a community college. Students can make an appointment with a peer advisor in the UAC in order to confirm General Education completion as well as make sure all the prerequisites for their major have been met. Students are REQUIRED to visit the UAC at least once in an academic year to ensure they are on track to their personal graduation requirements. Call today to make an appointment at (661) 952-5010. If you have any questions regarding the programs offered at CSUB AV feel free to e-mail us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
