Admissions

The CSU system, as a whole, uses the CSUmentor.edu website for its admissions applications. However, unlike main campus, the Antelope Valley branch only accepts transfer students that have achieved Junior status (meaning they have completed their first two years of a four year educational plan). In order to start coursework at the AV site applicants must have completed all of their lower division general education requirements including the golden four. Please refer to the course catalog and your program's homepage for more information and details about required coursework. Hard copies of the catalog are available for purchase at the front desk in the 100 building for $10.00. Additionally, every program has its own requirements for transfer students; please refer to your respective school's program page for in-depth details about major specific requirements.

Once your CSUmentor application has been received you will receive a letter in the mail with detailed instructions on how to log in to your myCSUB account where you can check the status of your application and check your "To Do List." Anything and everything CSUB requires in order to process your application will appear on your "To Do List" such as Final Transcripts, Financial paperwork, etc. Please note that once final transcripts are turned in they typically take between six to eight weeks to process and come off your "To Do List." If you've submitted all of your transcripts and more than eight weeks has passed but transcripts still show up on your "To Do List"  please contact the Evaluations office at (661) 654-2258 to check the status of your application.

Upon successful processing of your application and transcripts you will receive an Orientation letter in the mail. Orientation is mandatory, costs $30.00, and lasts about two hours. The Antelope Valley branch hosts its own Orientation sessions in the AV.  All students will have enrollment holds on their account to prevent them from registering before they attend orientation. The only way to remove this hold is to attend an Orientation. We recommend that all new students meet with the Academic Advisor here at the AV branch to get an Educational plan before Orientation. You can check the status of your application on your myCSUB account and once your are officially admitted you may contact the Academic Advisor Kristal Andersen at 661-952-5012 to make an appointment. If you are unsure about your status or have further questions please contact either the front desk at CSUB-AV at 661-952-5000 or the Admissions and Records office at 661-654-3036.
