Priority One: Web Accessibility

Automated Verification Process

The CSU has purchased a system wide license for HiSoftware's Compliance Sheriff. This software tests pages against a number of the Section 508 checkpoints, but not all can be verified through automated means. This software is useful in detecting many of the common errors. AccVerify, the desktop version of the software, is available through the office of E Learning Services and is useful for content creators to test and repair their pages.

Organizing your web host

Administrators should first group sites by webmasters. Some webmasters may be responsible for only one site, while others may have multiple. Compliance Sheriff can test each group seperately and generate useful reports for each webmaster so that only the content they are responsible for is reported on. Once an adminstrator has a list of appropriately organized url's that need to be tested the next step is scheduling.

Testing Schedule

Once the information regarding a web site has been delivered to ELS a web crawl test of the sites will occur on a regular basis. These tests are similar to a crawl a search engine might perform. If there are issues with the timing of the testing process please contact ELS so that we may work out an alternate schedule.
