Mission Outcomes Assessment Faculty Student Work

Program Learning Goals, Objectives and Measures
 
Goal I: Students will be thoroughly familiar with the major elements of modern finance.
 
Objective A: Finance consists of three interrelated areas: (1) Money and Capital Markets; (2) Investments; (3) Financial Management. Students should have knowledge in all three areas if they are to do their jobs well.
 
  Measure 1: Performance on FIN300, FIN326 and FIN460 exams.

 
Goal II: Have an opportunity to develop a solid understanding of the relevance of modern finance theory to the practitioner.
 
Objective A: Students will be able to identify and solve unstructured problems in all three areas of finance.
 
  Measure 1:

 
Performance on projects, exams and case analysis in FIN400 and FIN460.
  Measure 2:
 
Performance on projects, exams and cases in FIN325 and Finance 326
 
  Measure 3: Performance during internship in FIN326, FIN400 and FIN460.

 
Goal III: Have substantial classroom experience in applying many dimensions of finance to real and significant managerial decisions.
 
Objective A: Students will be able to: (1) Perform capital Budgeting; (2) Rank investment options; (3) Perform Financial forecasting; (4) Develop credit policy (5) Make buy/ Lease decisions; (6) Develop investment portfolios.
 
  Measure 1:
 
Performance on cases, projects and exams in FIN400.
  Measure 2: Performance on projects and exams in FIN460.
 
  Measure 3: Performance on projects and exams in FIN325 and FIN326.

 
Goal IV: Students will demonstrate a systematic approach to problem solving
 
Objective A: Students will successfully complete a personal financial planning project (retirement planning, educational planning, estate planning, etc.)
 
  Measure 1: In class project presentation FIN325, FIN326 and FIN427
 
Objective B: Students will demonstrate proper analysis of the situation when confronted with unstructured problems.
 
  Measure 1: Group case analysis and presentation in FIN400 and FIN460

 
Goal V: Acquire experience in communicating clearly and convincingly the results of their analysis
 
Objective A: Students should be able to analyze unstructured cases, identify problem, identify alternative solutions, write up a report and present their findings.
 
  Measure 1: Case presentation in FIN400

 
Goal VI: Finance graduate will demonstrate an attitude of continual inquiry and lifelong learning.
 
Objective A: Graduates will continue their professional education and development by pursuing various professional designations such as CFA and CFP.
 
  Measure 1: Alumni surveys, employer surveys and email messages.
