Mission Statement:
The Political Science Department has two principal goals. The
first is to provide students, whatever their career aims, with
the kinds of information they will need to function as effective
citizens. This department has the major responsibility for
helping students gain the kinds of information they will need to
function as effective citizens. This department has the major
responsibility for helping students gain the kind of
understanding of their political and social environment, which
enables them to identify possible alternatives and to predict
their probable consequences. The second goal is to help those
from whom the study of politics may be useful career
preparation.
