Volunteer Opportunities

The CSUB Alumni Association is active on campus and in the community, so it needs more volunteers than ever. You can help staff events, join one of our planning committees and/or mentor a current student.

You will be working with fellow CSUB graduates, giving you a chance to make new friends and contacts while helping the university.

Email alumni@csub.edu if you are interested in volunteering.

Volunteer Opportunities

Runner Alumni Mentor Program Be paired up with a current CSUB student with whom you will share insights on graduating from college and transitioning to career. Mentees want to learn how to write resumes, interview for jobs, network and grow their self-confidence. (Applications for 2018-2019 academic year being accepted this summer.)

Science Bowl - Local high school students tackle questions in all areas of science, including math, chemistry, astronomy, earth science, computer science, physics and general science. Alumni volunteers will work as scorekeepers, timekeepers and rules judges. You don't need to know the answers to the questions to participate! (February)

Grad Fest This annual event makes buying commencement caps and gowns a cause for celebration with music, food, graduation-shopping opportunities and grad cap decorating stations. Cheer on the graduates, capture their post-commencement information and, most fun, help them decorate their caps. (Mid-April)

Celebrate CSUB! and Freshman Orientation  This gives community members a chance to visit and learn about the university in an open-house type atmosphere.  And incoming students and their families come for orientation. Help staff the Alumni Association’s booth. (Late-April)

Athletics BBQ  This event offers great food and fun with proceeds benefiting the CSUB Athletic Department. Alumni are needed to help serve food, staff the alumni table and whatever else is needed to help ensure the event is a success! (May)

Commencement - Alumni Association volunteers interact with the graduates both before and after the undergraduate ceremony.  This is the most exciting time to return to campus! (June)

Party in the Park - This is one event you won't want to miss! Party in the Park is a fun-filled wine and beer tasting event with a silent auction and great food. Help is needed the day of setting up, checking in attendees, pouring wine and cleaning up. (The next one is Oct. 19, 2018.)

Standing Committees

Party in the Park Committee - Plan and coordinate this annual signature event featuring award-winning California wines and great food.
