Master's Degree Candidates

SUBMISSION OF PAPERWORK:
All forms may be obtained from your graduate program department and must be completed, approved, and submitted to the Evaluation Office. It is the responsibility of the student to meet with the advisor and to request all paperwork to be completed and sent to the Evaluations Office. Failure to submit the following forms will result in not receiving a response to the Application for Graduation. The degree check will be mailed to students within four to six weeks after all appropriate paperwork has been received. However, delays do occur and no guarantee can be offered.

In addition, the following items must be received from the department and/or Library before the degree can be awarded (if applicable).

  • Verification of completion of Comprehensive exams or
  • Library Approval of Thesis or Project

PAYMENT OF GRADUATION FEE:
The application form and a $55 fee ($55 for re-application) should be taken to the Cashier's Office. Payment can also be made online via credit card. A receipt of the transaction must accompany the application if paid online. After payment of the fee, submit the printed application form to the Evaluations Office, in the Office of Admissions and Records.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Residence
All students must complete a minimum of 32-quarter units in residence at CSUB.

Supplemental Transfer Credits
All graduate transfer credit is processed by the Evaluations office. Transfer credit, which is not yet included on your records, will be granted ONLY if official transcripts are on file and are needed to meet graduation requirements.

Change of Address
The Evaluations office must be notified of any changes to your mailing address after the Application for Graduation has been submitted. Failure to provide a correct or changed address may delay the response of the application and/or diploma.

Diploma
Diplomas will be mailed within four to six weeks after the date of graduation, or within two weeks from the actual clearing date of the degree. If you arrange for someone to pick up your diploma, he/she must have written authorization, and provide identification.

Candidate for Graduation List
Filing the application form for graduation places the student on the list of candidates for graduation; it does not guarantee graduation. Any student whose name does not appear on the list, but who intends to graduate, must check with the Dean's Office of your major to verify his/her status. These lists are available in the Dean's office.

If you do not qualify for graduation
At the end of the quarter for which you applied, you must submit a new application for the quarter you plan to complete the requirements. There is a $55 fee for re-applying.

Post-Graduate Study
Students wishing to continue taking classes after receiving a Master's degree, must re-apply for admission to the university. Students may apply online at www.csumentor.edu
