In the Office of Admissions and Records you will find the staff that handles areas regarding admission
to the university, registration of courses, maintenance of your student records, and graduation from
the university. Our mission is to provide quality service to students, the campus community, and the
general public, in an environment that fosters respect for the individual and promotes and encourages
positive growth in students.
General Admissions Information
A person may enroll at California State University, Bakersfield as a first-time freshman, transfer,
graduate, post-baccalaureate, or as an international student. Generally, the application process
includes the following:
- Completed application form, paper or on-line version
- Two official transcripts from all schools attended
- Appropriate test scores, i.e. SAT, ACT, GRE, etc.
- $55 application fee or completed fee waiver form

- Applicants who have earned a high school diploma or G.E.D. but have never attended a college or university since high school.
- Transfers
- Applicants who have attended a college or university since high school.
- Post Baccalaureate and Graduate
- Applicants who hold a Bachelor's degree and wish to pursue a credential, second Bachelor's, or graduate degree.
- International Students
- Students who hold U.S. visas as exchange visitors or in other nonimmigrant classifications.
The initial application filing period for any fall term is November 1st - 30th of the previous year, June 1st -
20th of the previous year for winter quarter, and August 1st - 31st of the previous year for spring term;
however, admission applications are accepted throughout the year.
Residence Classification for Tuition Purposes
Generally, if a student has established and maintained a California residence for at least one year immediately
preceding the residence determination date. The residence determination date for each academic term are:

The CSU Mentor website is designed to help students through each phase of choosing the CSU they wish
to attend. CSUMentor is also a great way to begin planning for college and keep track of your academic
progress. An array of college planning resources is available. Aside from the standard admission
application fee ($55, should you decide to apply), there is no charge to use CSUMentor.
Intrasystem Concurrent or Visitor Information
Students enrolled in a campus of the California State University may apply for Intrasystem Concurrent or Visitor enrollment at another CSU campus for one term. For more information to complete an application for the Intrasystem Concurrent or Visitor program, click here.
