about the HCM 9.0 Upgrade

***UPDATE Tuesday, Nov 15th 8:00am - the upgrade has been completed and we've opened up myCSUB to the campus community. Thank you very much for your patience during this extended outage.

In accordance with the Chancellor's office mandate to be on the supported version of the software, CSUB will be upgrading the myCSUB (PeopleSoft HCM) system from 6:00pm, Nov 10, 2011 through 8:00am, Nov 16, 2011 Nov 15th.

The system will not be available for access during this upgrade period.

The upgrade process is a joint effort of the Chancellor's office and CSUB. The system downtime period is an estimate derived from other campuses that have completed the upgrade. Every effort will be made to reduce the downtime, and any changes on system availability will be communicated via updates on the CSUB website and thru general e-mail.

This is a major software upgrade that the support team has been working on for many months. While the changes in the initial release will be mostly cosmetic to the faculty, staff, and student users, it gives us a platform to roll out additional features. The upgrade also will provide PeopleSoft power users with significantly improved functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the upgrade being done from Nov 10th - Nov 16th?

The campus began planning for the HCM 9.0 Upgrade in early 2010. One of the early decisions was to select an upgrade date from the available dates provided by The Chancellor's Office. All 23 CSU campuses are required to upgrade to HCM 9.0 within a relatively short time frame, so several of our preferred upgrade dates were not available. Of the available dates, it was decided that the November 10 - 16 time period would have the least negative impact to the campus community.

Having a 3-day weekend for the upgrade helps minimize the impact to campus services. The dates also avoid start of term and peak campus processing windows for key activities such as student registration, advising, end of term grades, Financial Aid disbursements, Student Finance Refunding, and Payroll and Student Time Entry.

iStrategy is not on the list as being unavailable, can we still use iStrategy during the outage?

While iStrategy will not be down during this outage, it's source data is from myCSUB, so iStrategy will not be updated during the myCSUB outage.
