Vendor Guidelines

CSS - Cascading Style Sheets

Presentation should be implemented through the use of Cascading Style Sheets. Table layouts are a barrier to access and usability.

Links

Link text should be evaluated for both content and repetition. Duplicate link text should lead to the same destination. Link text should be descriptive enough that a user has a good indication of the document they are accessing.

Document Structure

Appropriate use of headings to enable navigation methods other than a mouse.

Frames

No frame elements.

Blinking and Moving Text

No blink or moving Text.

Scripting

Javascript and other types of scripting should be used in such a way that users who do not have these enabled are still able to use the page. Elements that can not be accessed when scripting is disabled must be duplicated on the page in a non-scripted manner.

Plug-Ins and Readers

Documents that require a certain type of reader, such as Acrobat or Word, should have a link to download the appropriate program nearby in a logical place.

Resizable Text

Text should be resizable so that users can enlarge or shrink it to suit their needs. Absolute font sizes, and graphics displaying text should be avoided.

Images

Images should have appropriate and meaningful alternative text. A page must be accessible with images disabled.
