Academic Petitions Committee
Dr. John Dirkse, Director, Academic Operations
Education 242, (661) 654-3420
The Academic Petitions Committee (APC) is composed of four faculty members, one representing each of the four academic schools. The APC meets three times each academic term to review petitions from undergraduate students submitted by the deadline prior to the respective meeting. The next deadline for submitting petitions will be noon on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. You may call after 8:00 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013, to find out the decision of the APC Committee.
Students must carefully read and follow all instructions prior to submitting a petition. Petitions that are not properly completed and/or do not have the positive support of a faculty member will not be accepted.
1. For all petitions, please read the General Guidelines below and then complete the Petition for Exception form.
- General Guidelines for all Petitions
- Petition for Exception Form
(No handwritten forms allowed)
2a. For petitions other than those for readmission or immediate reinstatement, please click on the instructions for the appropriate petition below.
- Return to an Earlier Catalog
- Replacement of grades over the 25-unit limit
- Additional repeat units over the 18-unit limit
- Additional withdrawals ("W" grades) beyond the 28 unit limit
- Academic Renewal
2b. Students seeking readmission or immediate reinstatement after disqualification
Note: Since academic standing is based on the CSUB and Overall gpas, the APC needs to see grades for all courses on the transcript. Additionally, it can be difficult for the APC to determine exactly what coursework is still needed when "RD" grades are there since sometimes those courses have to be retaken. Students must clear up all transfer "RD" grades before submitting their petitions or must include an unofficial copy of the transfer transcript showing the final course grades.
i. Academically dismissed undergraduate students who have satisfied one of the conditions for reinstatement listed on pages 70-71 of the 2011-13 CSUB catalog (Readmission of Academically Disqualified Undergraduate Students) must submit the Petition for Exception Form.
ii. Academically dismissed undergraduate students who have not satisfied one of the conditions in the catalog must submit the form below.
