Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies
In addition to our many outstanding academic departments and degrees, CSU Bakersfield also offers a number of Interdisciplinary programs. These programs allow students in different majors to focus their studies on specific ethnic or cultural groups, or to combine elements of distinct disciplines in a unique way. Students may choose a concentration or minor in one of these special programs.
CSUB also offers a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. This permits a student who wants to pursue a field of study not covered by one of the University's departments to propose a program of correlated studies in two or more fields. We currently offer areas of specialization in Women's Gender and Sexuality Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Film Studies.
A student who transfers with a large number of upper division units in a degree program not offered at the University can find this alternative particularly useful.
Sample programs of study for Ethnic Studies; Film Studies; or Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies are available. Please contact Dr. Liora Gubkin (DDH B111, 661-654-2051).
Click here for the request form: Interdisciplinary Studies (Bachelors of Arts Degree). The Interdisciplinary Studies BA consists for a minimum of 55 quarter units, 35 of which must be upper division. The courses must be distributed among different fields of study. Please consult with your academic advisor for guidance in completing the form.
