Explosion, death, the cries of people, and lives being lost in a matter of seconds. Its a scene weve seen over and over again for the past five months. But this time its not the Twin Towers but the first 15 minutes of Arnold Schwarzeneggers new movie Collateral Damage.
Director Andrew Davis put together this high-action political drama. The movie was put on hold due to Sept. 11 to let America grieve and heal after the attacks.
Gordon Brewer (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a local firefighter, finds himself getting involved in international terrorism after his wife and son are blown up during an attack on an American Consulate building.
This tragic incident takes Brewer to Columbia to find the guerillas, a group of terrorists who have bombed America due to political issues. Hes in search of one particular guerrilla, Claudio The Wolf Perrini (Cliff Curtis). While in Columbia Brewer is now a target. After already being shot at, captured and held prisoner he escapes to find guerilla grounds.
When entering the danger zone he fights his own war against the terrorist. Brewer gets involved with Selena Perrini (Francesca Neri), Wolfs wife. Not knowing whos on his side is where the twists and turns begin.
Comedian John Leguizamo plays Felix Ramirez, a drug lord trying to make it in the business. Although Leguizamo plays a bad guy he still makes you laugh with his hilarious dialogues and actions.
In this movie Schwarzenegger plays another one of his sensitive yet aggressive roles. He projects the kind and caring side to him like he did in Kindergarten Cop and Twins but at the same time manages to be a warrior and a killer, like in Terminator and Predator.
Of course, even though Schwarzenegger is an incredible actor he could never seem to change his Austrian accent. The accent drove me crazy because it required too much effort to understand what he was saying. Nevertheless, the action made up for it.
This movie is awesome. Theres no doubt if you love action then youll love this movie.
