Thomas Watts Peace Foundation Award

This award was established by the family and friends of Professor Thomas Watts to encourage interest in international politics among Political Science majors at CSUB.

Palmbach Scholarship Award

The Palmbach Scholarship is available from a private donor to assist political science majors to meet their educational expenses.  This award falls under the category of campus-based scholarships and requires the completion of the CSUB Academic Scholarship Application and two letters of recommendation.  Amounts and number of awards may vary from year to year.

Merit Award Scholarship Program

This program is sponsored by the Schools of Humanities & Social Sciences and Natural Sciences & Mathematics. The goal of this program is to offer selected "honors" and/or "high ability" graduates from Kern County high schools four-year scholarships of $5,000 to major in an eligible program and to graduate with a baccalaureate degree within four years. Each merit award scholarship will be awarded based on academic achievement and commitment to complete an appropriate major within a four-year period. Interested students must meet the following minimum criteria: 3.8 cumulative GPA and a score of 1150 on the SAT; or 25 on the ACT. Joe Wooldridge Memorial Scholarship

Student Scholar Program

Funded by Cal State Bakersfield Foundation, the SRS Program supports 12 student-faculty teams with a $2,000 to $2,500 award each to conduct and complete a project involving research, scholarship, or creative activity. Applications are available in early-to-mid April. www.csub.edu/grsp

Travel Support for Student Researchers

The TSSR Program is funded by Associated Students, Instructionally Related Activities (IRA) to disperse to students twice a year on a competitive basis. Awards of up to $400 are provided for CSUB undergraduate and graduate students who are presenting a paper summarizing their own research or scholarship or showing their own creative work(s) at a national/regional professional meeting/conference.
