Law: Truth and Myth

There is no doubt that the law serves many social needs both for individuals and the community.  The law provides stability and assurance for persons, groups, and organizations.  However, law is also a strong agent for change, especially when there is a perception among large numbers of persons that the law's bias toward stability is preventing social change and denying justice to many individuals.  One of the main reasons for an individual investing in what is a high cost education involving approximately eight years (bachelor's, law school, bar exam) is his or her desire to be a change agent.  However, one should explore all the options and recognize that there are many policy leaders who are changing society without being an attorney.
