Description: Full time position to teach nursing to majors,
other teaching assignments will depend upon applicant’s
background and departmental needs and will include teaching
graduate and undergraduate laboratories/courses for majors;
establish research trajectory in Maternal/Child Nursing
and scholarly activities in fields of specialization;
advise students interested in professionally related
programs; supervise student research projects and theses;
and provide professionally related service to the university
and community. Commitment to work with National Children’s
Study Kern County location (0.30 FTE) is required. This study
is a 25 year opportunity to participate in ground breaking data
gathering, analysis, and dissemination.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Nursing or related academic area; the ability
to teach courses in related areas of expertise; evidence of
reviewed research in the area of Maternal/Child Health and other
areas of expertise; and a commitment to a quality nursing
education program are required.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications. Research opportunity available.

Setting: The Department of Nursing, one of six
departments in the School of Natural Sciences
and Mathematics, offers a B.S. and M.S in Nursing.
It currently has ten tenure-track faculty lines and
over 300 active majors. Faculty views the department’s
dedication to student success and decreasing the
nursing shortage as its strength.
CSUB was founded in 1970 as the 19th campus of the CSU system and
currently has an enrollment of more than 7,000 students.

Bakersfield (population about 300,000) is located in the southern
