FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the admission requirements?
Please click on "MSA Requirements"

I have already completed some graduate courses, can I transfer these into the program?
Depends on the courses.  The coursework transcripts must be included in your application packet for consideration and review.

What is the refund policy?
Full refund of Extended University fees is made only when a class is canceled. Students withdrawing from courses will be refunded 65% of fee collected until 25% (approximately two weeks) of instructional meetings have occurred, after which time no refund will be given. Nonattendance or notifying the instructor is not officially withdrawing from a course. To receive a refund, students must officially drop their course(s) with the instructor’s signed consent on an Extended University Drop form. The Drop form and the Extended University’s Request for Refund form must be submitted to the Extended University Office prior to 6 p.m. on the deadline date (see Open University Academic Calendar).  All refunds, including credit card payments, are made by check from the State of California. Allow approximately two weeks for refund processing.

What is the application fee?
The application fee is 75.00 and is non-refundable.

How much are classes?
Courses, on the graduate level, run in the range of $110.00 to $160.00 per unit.

If I do enroll in an on-line course, are there certain times in which I must sign on?
Depends. You can download notes and assignments at any time but your instructor will post a calender noting when assignments are due. There are some courses, however, such as “Negotiation and Conflict Management”, where students must plan ahead to meet in the chat room to work through a hypothetical negotiation.

How do I obtain text books?
Textbooks are obtained through the CSUB bookstore. The class schedule page will have a link that provides a list of all the textbooks necessary for each course offered.  Complete the form and fax it directly to the bookstore. The staff will ship the books directly to your home, normally, by UPS.

How do I establish an area of Concentration?
A coherent program of study must be approved by the program director.  Students may specialize in a specific area by completing coursework from CSU Bakersfield or another accredited university or they may achieve breadth in organizational administration by combining appropriate courses from several areas.  Up to 13 quarter units of courses completed as a post-baccalaureate student may be transferred into the degree program from other accredited universities. In order to include senior-level courses (400-level) in the program, additional work in the form of a portfolio entry demonstrating knowledge and skills gained in the course must be submitted and approved for inclusion in the student's portfolio.

Please note: It is understood that students who register for on-line courses have developed a set of computer skills that includes; an understanding of the internet, converting and attaching files, as well as file compression and extraction.  In addition, students should know their home workstation configuration and platform.
