Faculty and Staff,

Because of a recently discovered security vulnerability in Internet Explorer, it is imperative that all Windows based computers have the latest Windows updates. If your computer is set to automatically update (Win 2000, and XP) Windows can download the update in the background, allowing you to continue work uninterrupted. After the download is complete, an icon appears in the notification area that looks like a world. A message will notify you that the updates are ready to be installed. When you click the icon or message, Automatic Updates quickly guides you through the installation process. Windows might prompt you to restart your computer after certain components are installed.

To find out if you need updates you can also go to the Microsoft Windows update site at: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com Complete Windows Update instructions can be found at: http://www.csub.edu/IRTS/Downloads/WindowsUpdate.pdf
