Before Buying a Computer...

When you are preparing to fill out a Form 5 for a computer or printer, please consult the Hardware Standards home page. Computer Services has been receiving orders for outdated machines, so please check the standards page immediately before filling out and sending the Form 5. Technology is a dynamic industry and the CSUB standards are updated regularly to keep pace with these changes. If you have consulted the standards page longer ago than 4 weeks or so, you may find that there is often a more powerful machine available at a comparable, sometimes even lower, price. It is beneficial to you and your department to get the very latest standards information.

The CSUB hardware standards for both Macintosh and Windows machines are found at URL http://www.csubak.edu/InfoRes/Standards/hardware/ and software standards are found at URL http://www.csubak.edu/InfoRes/Standards/Software/ or you may enter the Information Resources site from the CSUB home page and click on the link labeled "User Support Hardware (or Software) Recommendations and Information." If you do the ordering for a department, you may find it helpful to bookmark both sites.
