Voice Mail FAQs IV

Q:  I am listening to my messages and someone in my office needs a quick answer from me.  I do not want to log out of voice mail.  Is there any way I can pause the message, while I answer their question,  and resume listening to my messages?

A:  After you have pressed 1, to listen to new messages, or 5, to listen to saved messages, press 1 to pause listening. The message will pause for sixty seconds. To resume listening, press 1.

Q:  The volume of the messages is too loud.  Is there a way to lower the volume in voice mail?

A:  Pause the message  (see question 1) and the prompt will state 'you may press 9 to reduce volume.' You may need to press the 9 key a number of times until the desired volume is reached. If the message volume is not loud enough, pause the message, and press the 6 key to increase volume. After you have increased or decreased the volume, you press 1 again to resume message playback.

Q:  On one of my messages someone has left their phone number, but has said it too quickly. I have listened to the message a number of times and still do not understand.  Is there anything I can do?

A:  Pause the message (see question 1) and the prompt will state 'you may press 7 to reduce the speed.' You may need to press the 7 key a number of times until you reached a comfortable payback speed.  You’ll need to press 1 again to resume message playback.  This will not only play your message slower, but also the prompts. You may want to reset the speed to normal before listening to the rest of your messages. You may do this by pressing 1 to pause, then press 4 to increase the speed.

Note:  You do not have to change back to the normal speed; the system will set it back to the normal for your Voice Mail next log-in.
