Voice Mail FAQs VII
Q: I am currently not on campus and will be out for a number
of days. Can I change my greeting from my home or hotel phone?
A: You may access voice mail from any touch tone phone by dialing 664-3300 (or (661) 664-3300). When you hear the chimes, press the “#” key . The system will then ask you for your mailbox number. Enter your extension number. The system will ask you for your security code. Enter your security code.
Note: Remember do not enter a “#” after your mailbox or security code.
The system will not prompt you to “Press 3 to access Phone Manager”. When the system is telling you to press 1 to listen to messages or to press 2 to send a message, you need to remember that you press 3 to access Phone Manager.
Note: The makers of the voice mail system set up the system this way as a security precaution. If someone were able to get into your mailbox and did not know the system, they would not know where to go to change a password or greeting.
After you pressed 3 for Phone Manager, the system will prompt you to
press 1 for Personal Options. Press 1. The system will to prompt
you to press 3 to record your Personal Greeting. After you pressed
3, the system will play your current recording. You will press 2
to specify that you want to make a new recording. The system will
prompt you to press 2 again to start recording. When you have finished
recording, press 2 again to stop recording. Then press 5 to save.
Q: I called someone on campus and their greeting only stated that they were on the phone and to leave a message. Does the voice mail system have a different greeting when the line is busy?
A: We now have the capability to record two greetings.
One for when you are away from your desk and another for when you are on
another call. You will need to call telecommunications (X3200) and
let them know you wish to have this option. You will then need to
record a greeting for when your extension is busy. You do this the
same way you would change your personal greeting; the system will offer
you the option of pressing 1 to record the greeting to be used when your
extension is busy.
