Administrative Computing Services - About ACS

Administrative Computing Services (ACS) is a part of the Information Technology Services at California State University, Bakersfield. The department consists of Administrative Computing and System Operations support.

Administrative Computing

The Administrative Computing support staff provides implementation, development and maintenance support for the University's Enterprise Application Systems, including but not limited to Banner, PeopleSoft, Runnercard and their interfaces with other local and state application systems. These systems collectively provide administrative and academic solutions for the business needs of the campus community and enhance the service delivery to students, faculty and staff.

The PeopleSoft system provides support functions for:-

  • Human Resources, including administer base benefits, recruit workforce, administer workforce and labor cost distribution.
  • Finance, including general ledger, accounts payable and purchasing.

Additional functionalities for both Human Resources and Finance will be implemented by October, 2008.

The Runnercard system provides support functions for the University's ID and debit cards.

System Operations

System Operations Support staff are responsible for maintaining the operational status of all servers and mini/mainframe computers housed in the Administrative Computing Services facility. Among the responsibilities of the System Operations support staff are the maintenance of the Alpha systems used for academic and administrative computing, as well as the various Intel-based servers used for Banner, PeopleSoft and Runnercard access.

The Operations staff provides additional support services, including:

  • Maintenance of backups, including restoring files.
  • Managing computer printer output.
  • Processing OpScan jobs, such as OPSCAN student exams, SOCI, ELM/EPT, and surveys.
