Deleting Mail in FirstClass
Deleting Mail
If you need to delete several emails at once, hold down the Ctrl key (Command key for Mac) and click on
random emails (or use the shift key if you want to select contiguous emails). You can then press the
Delete key and then the return key. Another suggestion: some users move all mail to be deleted to a
folder and then delete the entire folder contents at once. Once an email (or folder) is deleted from
your FirstClass account, you have until midnight to un-delete them.
Note: Some emails can be quite large due to attachments. Try sorting your mail
by size to bring the largests emails to the top. To do this, click on the Size icon on the sort bar
(see picture). Clicking on the sort bar Size icon toggles the email from descending to ascending and
visa versa.
An email under 100k (kilobytes) is relatively small. Attachments can dramatically
increase the size into the megabytes. Any email that shows megabytes (M) is considered large (for
example, 3.8M)
Un-deleting Mail
If you accidently deleted an email or folder, you have until mid-night to un-delete it
To un-delete a message (or folder) do the following:
- From the View menu select "Show Deleted Items"
- Highlight the deleted email(s) (the ones with a tiny trash can icon beside them) and from the File menu select "Undelete"
- To re-hide the other deleted items, you will need to go to the View menu select "Hide Deleted Items"
*** Remember, ANY mail in the Bulletin Boards or Conference folders is "public mail" and you do not need
to worry about this email (unless you are the designated Controller for that conference).
