Other Recommended Vaccines
The Student Health Services offers a wide range of adult vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)
· Tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (Tdap)-Td is a tetanus-diphtheria vaccine given to adolescents and adults as a booster shot every 10 years, or after an exposure to tetanus under some circumstances. Tdap is similar to Td but also containing protection against pertussis. Adolescents 11-18 years of age (preferably at age 11-12 years) and adults 19 through 64 years of age should receive a single dose of Tdap. Tdap can be given no matter when Td was last received.
· Hepatitis A: This is a series of two vaccinations over six months to be immunized.
· Varicella (chickenpox): This is a series of two doses and should be taken if you have never had chickenpox.
· Influenza vaccine: All people 6 months of age and older should get flu vaccine yearly.
· HPV vaccine: This is a series of three doses over six months. The vaccine is approved for females between ages 9-26 to prevent cervical cancer and genital warts. Males are approved to receive the vaccine between the ages of 9-26 to prevent genital warts.
