TSUNAMI RELIEF FUNDThe December 26, 2004 Sumatra Earthquake and Tsunami has affected millions of people worldwide. Over 140,000 people have perished from this natural disaster and tens of thousands more are still missing. At least 14 independent nations have been affected by the tsunami. Now more than 5 million survivors risk more devastation due to disease and lack of fresh water and basic supplies. The CSUB Geology Club has organized a Tsunami Relief Fund for the victims of this tragedy. An account has been set up at Foundation to collect funds. 100% of all donations will be sent to Banda Aceh, Indonesia. No donation amount is too small for this important relief effort. Please help us make a difference.

Constitution Of The California State University,
Bakersfield Geology Club
American Association of Petroleum Geologists Student Chapter
Name of the Organization
Section
1:
The name of the organization shall be the “California State University,
Bakersfield Geology Club-American Association of Petroleum Geologists Student
Chapter”, abbreviated as “CSUB Geology Club-AAPG Student Chapter”.
Article II
Purpose of the Organization
Section
1:
The purpose of the organization is to further the education and
fellowship of geology students at California State University, Bakersfield and
the interested geologists in the surrounding area.
Article III
Membership
Section
1:
Any full- or part-time CSUB student may be a member of the organization
with all rights and privileges thereof. Any
person who is not a student of CSUB may join, but has no voting rights within
the organization.
Section
2:
To become a member of the geology club a student must attend a geology
club meeting and express his/her wish to join.
Anyone meeting the above requirements must be allowed to join.
Section
3:
No discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, or
gender will exist within the organization.
Article IV
Officers
Section
1:
The listing of officers is as follows:
President
Vice President
Secretary
Treasurer
Section
2:
The officers shall be elected in accordance with the by-laws of this
organization.
Section
3:
The term of office for all officers shall be one academic year at CSUB.
In the event that an officer cannot complete his/her term in office, the
president may appoint a member of the organization to complete the term.
In the event that the president cannot complete his/her term, the vice
president shall become president and will appoint a new vice president to fill
the newly vacated office.
Section
4:
The duties of the president of the organization are as follows:
1.
To preside over all meeting and functions of the club.
2.
To be the official spokesperson for the club.
3.
To be one of the four member of the executive committee.
4.
To preside over elections of new officials.
5.
To appoint a member to complete any subordinate office vacated in his/her
term.
Section 5:
The duties of the vice president of the organization are as follows:
1.
In the event that the president is absent, the vice president shall
assume the responsibilities of the president.
2.
To be one of the four members of the executive committee.
Section 6:
The duties of the secretary of the organization are as follows:
1.
To record the minutes of each meeting.
2.
To keep the records of the club (including phone lists)
3.
To post events and minutes of meetings.
4.
To be one of the four members of the executive committee.
Section 7:
The duties of the treasurer of the organization are as follows:
1.
To be accountable for all club funds.
2.
To be one of the four members of the executive committee.
Article V
Executive Committee (Governing Board)
Section
1:
The executive committee shall consist of the elected officer and the
advisor.
Section 2: A majority vote of the executive committee, with no rejection by the advisor, shall be necessary to pass any business, which is referred to the executive committee.
Article VI
Meetings
Section
1:
Meetings shall be held at least once per quarter.
The day of the meeting will be determined by the executive committee at
the first meeting of each quarter.
Section
2:
If a special meeting of the entire club is deemed necessary by the
executive committee, then a posting or letters to all members in regular
attendance shall be made at least fourteen days in advance of the meeting.
Article VII
Quorum
Section
1:
A minimum of five members must be present to transact business legally
within a general assembly meeting.
Section
2:
A minimum of three officers must be present to transact business within
the executive committee meeting.
Article VIII
How to amend the Constitution
Section
1:
The members of the organization must be notified of a pending amendment
to the constitution at least 14 day prior to the actual vote.
Section
2:
In order to amend the constitution, a simple majority of regularly
attending members within the general assembly must be obtained.
Article IX
Hazing
Section 1: This organization shall not engage and/or participate in the hazing of members or commit any acts that injure, degrade, or disgrace or tends to degrade or disgrace any fellow student attending CSUB. (State of California Education Code, Article 8, Section 10052).

Article I
Membership
Section
1:
To be identical to section 1, 2 and 3 of article 3 of the constitution of
the organization.
Section
2:
The club will allow only active members to vote.
An active member is one who comes to a least one meeting or event per
quarter.
Section
3:
Regular attendance is not required.
Section
4:
This is an educational and social organization only.
No other rights or privileges are to be construed from membership in the
organization.
Article II
Elections
Section
1:
Nomination of a candidate will come from the floor with a seconding
motion. Any member can nominate any
other member including him or her self. Any
member may decline a nomination. After
all candidates have been nominated and nominations have been closed, the names
of the candidates will be written in view of all.
Any nominee will have an opportunity to speak but nest not degrade their
opponent. Election will be turned
over to the executive committee. Voting
will commence. The votes will be
tallied by the executive committee and the candidate with the greatest number of
votes will win the office for which he or she has been nominated.
Section 2: Any member in regular attendance is eligible to vote.
Article III
Parliamentary Authority
Section 1: Parliamentary authority will rest solely within the executive committee.
Article IV
Amendments
Section
1:
These by-laws must be amended in the same manner as the organization’s
constitution.
Article V
Enacting Clause
Section 1: These by-laws shall become effective upon approval of the director of activities and housing.
