Types of Aid Available

 
Umbrellas
Various types of financial aid are available; some are based on financial need and others on academic achievement or special talent. Multiple funding sources support these types of financial aid including the federal and state governments, private donors, the CSU Chancellor's Office, and California State University, Bakersfield.

 

 

Grants/Fellowships: Financial Aid that does not have to be earned or repaid.

Loans/Loan Assumption Programs: Aid that must be repaid after the recipient graduates or ceases to be at least a half-time student

Scholarships: Aid that is typically based on academic achievement or special talent and does not have to be repaid

Tax Credits : Income tax credits that are based on the amount of qualified tuition and fees, less grants and other tax-free educational assistance, and the taxpayer's modified adjusted gross income.

Work: Aid that is earned through employment by students hired by participating entities both on and off campus
