1970s

Charles “Chuck” Walker (’77, BS chemistry) is working as a petroleum engineer with Occidental Petroleum in Doha, Qatar, where he lives with his wife and two teen-age children.

Glenna L. Machado (’79, BA psychology), is a full partner in her family’s company, Machado Trucking, in Biggsville, Il. She is also employed by New Choices, Inc, an agency which provides community support to mentally challenged individuals.

1980s

Charlotte Brandt (’80, MSA health-care management) has retired from the Kern County Superintendent of Schools office as a school nurse.

Ron Errea (’80, BA business administration; ’87 MBA) has been appointed Kern County administrative officer, the top unelected job at the county. Errea has worked in the county since 1988, most recently as director of the Kern County Department of Aging and Adult Services.

Philip E. Reischman (’82, BS marketing and finance) has been promoted to area president and branch manager of Gallagher Healthcare Insurance Services in Houston.

1990s

Danny Duran (’91, BS marketing) founded ddPR Marketing & Public Relations in West Hollywood in 2000 specializing in DVD home entertainment, special events and corporate publicity.

Cal Rossi (’93, BA political science), former legislative staffer and central valley director for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, has been named manager of community and governmental affairs for The Corky McMillin Co., Bakersfield region.

Scott A. Robertson (’93, BS biology) and his wife, Kristen, are interning in Scottsdale, Ariz., after completing their doctoral studies at Tufts University’s Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Mass.

Melanie Walker-Miller (’93, BA criminal justice) has opened with her mother, Walter Mary Walker, also a CSUB alumna (’75, BS nursing), a Bakersfield group home for children between the ages 0-18.

Anastassios A. Frangou (’94, BS marketing) is the chief financial officer of Bacardi-Martini in Moscow, Russia. He has been married nine years and has two sons.

Daniel E. Hinds (’98, BA history) earned his master of divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary, and became a minister. He now lives in Seattle with his wife, Shena, and is working with Graduate and Faculty Ministries, a division of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.

Kreshell Ramey (’99, BA liberal studies) earned a master’s in organizational management at the University of Phoenix in Woodland Hills in June 2004. She works at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power in the workers’ compensation office.

2000s

Wiladene “Willy” Sawyer (’01, BA sociology) is the webmaster for the information technology department with the city of Bakersfield. Willy worked for many years at CSUB while working toward her degree.

Hanh D. Truong (’01, MS counseling psychology) recently earned his doctorate in clinical psychology, and is working for the Orange County Health Care Agency. He also teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses at CSU Fullerton.

Melvin “Wim” Laven (’03, BA philosophy and religious studies) is enrolled in his second year of a master’s program in conflict resolution at Portland State University. He has been working as a volunteer mediator in small claims court for about a year.

Ryan L. Nielsen (’03, BS accounting) recently passed the CPA exam. He has been working at the Bakersfield accounting firm Brown-Armstrong. He has also served as treasurer of the Active 20-30 Club of Bakersfield, a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds for local children's charities, for the past two years. His wife, Wendie, is currently a graduate student at CSUB in the counseling program.

Catherine R. Williams (’03, BA psychology) is working on her doctorate in psychology at Capella University in Minneapolis. She entered graduate school following her graduation from CSUB in 2003. She earned her bachelor’s at CSUB’s Antelope Valley campus in Lancaster.

Laquette Shanice Milner (’04, BA theater arts) is the owner/director of LQ’s Performing Arts Center in Bakersfield. She hopes to break into the entertainment industry with a role in a TV sitcom or movie. She also hopes to expand LQ’s into a national franchise.

John D. Sinkovitz (’04, BA anthropology) of Delano has been working for the federal Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) since its inception in 2003 in investigations. The agency was previously known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). He has been with the agency for seven years.

Jocelyn Mayo (’05, BA criminal justice) will be attending Norfolk State University in Virginia for her master’s degree in criminal justice.
