If you receive information (smoke, fire alarm, verbal warning
etc.) of a fire or other emergency that necessitates your
leaving the building, the following procedures should be
followed:
- If you have time, report the incident as described above;
- Calmly but quickly collect immediate personal possessions
(purse, wallet, glasses, coats, etc.);
- If time and safety permit, close all interior doors,
checking as you do so to insure no one is trapped or incapacitated;
- Calmly but quickly make your way to the nearest safe
exit, assisting the disabled or others as needed and exit
the building;
- If the emergency involves a fire, do not use elevators,
use stairways only; and
- Proceed to the designated evacuation collection point/staging
area and report to the building monitor to insure all employees
are accounted for.
