Subject:   Summer Student Hiring 2006

Reminder.....student employees continuing to work for your department during the July and August pay periods must be rehired for the 2006/07 fiscal year. Continuing Student Assistant employees (class 1870) will be moved to "Bridge" Student Assistant (class 1874) starting on July 1st.. The 1874 class enables students to work more than 20 hours per week. All departments are required to complete a Continuing Student Hire Form 108 with attachment and submit to Payroll as soon as the new fiscal year begins.

This year students will not be required to come to Payroll Services personally with the 108 form. Each department will printout the 108 form from the Payroll web page, complete the first page and have the student complete the attachment. Both forms will then be delivered to the Payroll Office, prior to the start of the new fiscal year. We are attempting to alleviate the long, hot lines at the Payroll window this summer by having the students complete the "bridge" paperwork in the departments.

Work Study students will need a new 2006/07 award from the Financial Aid Office. The FA Office will give the student the 104 Hire Form to take to you for signatures. New Work Study students are required to come to Payroll within (3) days to sign payroll hire documents.

New student assistants will still need the 105 Student Hire Form issued by Career Development Center. The student will need to personally bring the form to Payroll to signup within three (3) days of start of employment. Students must have been enrolled Spring quarter to work as Student Assistant or Work Study students in the summer. If a student is to continue working into the summer, a 108 Continuing Student Hire Form must also be completed and brought to Payroll with the 105. Non CSUB students must be hired through the Human Resources Office and cannot become Student Assistant/Work Study employees until the Fall quarter begins and they have enrolled as CSUB students.

The 108 form and the 2006/07 Payroll calendar of due dates are found at: http://www.csub.edu/BAS/fiscal/payroll/index.shtml This procedure is for all student employment, including Grants and Centers. Please call x2235 or X6150 if you have any questions.
