Subject:   Definition of Sensitive Property Equipment

--------------------------------------------
As part of the new Asset Management Standard Operating Policy, certain equipment may be designated as “Sensitive Equipment.”  This is Campus property that may pose a special risk of loss due to its marketability and portability.  Thus, the following equipment, due to its attractiveness and susceptibility of being pilfered may be tagged regardless of cost, has been designated by the Campus Property Survey Board “Sensitive Equipment”:

  1. Laptop or notebook computers
  2. Firearms

Sensitive Equipment items will be tracked by the Facilities Asset Management group, regardless of cost, and Sensitive Equipment items are assets that must also be tracked by your department, and must be accounted for at all times.  In addition, Sensitive Equipment will not be allowed to be purchased through the ProCard and/or Direct Pay Programs.  All purchase requests for Sensitive Equipment must continue to be done on a Purchase Requisition and forwarded to the Office of Procurement and Contract Services.  This information is covered in the Delegation of Purchasing Authority Handbook.  This document can be found at:
