SMOKE-FREE CAMPUS

Effective September 1, 2017, CSU Bakersfield has become a "Smoke-Free" and "Tobacco-Free" campus.  According to Executive Order 1108, “smoke free” means the use of cigarettes, pipes, cigars, and other “smoke” emanating products, including e-cigarettes, vapor devices, and other like products are prohibited. The order also prohibits the use of smokeless tobacco, snuffs, and other tobacco products.  For more information, please click on the following links:

CSUB promotes compliance by implementing educational campaigns, outreach, communications, and the promotion of tobacco cessation treatment programs that will assist people in quitting smoking completely or help them adhere to the smoke-free and tobacco-free policy.  To get started right away on your Tobacco Cessation Program, you can access the following information:

STAFF & FACULTY

  • Utilize benefits under your personal medical plan
  • Utilize the smoking cessation support group through our Student Health
    Services

STUDENTS

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED:

  • Sign the “Breathe Freely” banner to affirm CSUB as a Smoke Free environment and receive a free CSUB Breathe Freely wristband!

    • The main campus banner will be located inside DDH for signing from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm on the following dates:
    • August 31st, September 1st, 5th, 6th and 7th
    • The Antelope Valley Center banner will be available for signing in the lobby of Building 100.
    • Information regarding smoking cessation assistance will also be available.
  • Join in the #CSUBBreatheFreely Social Media Contest!

    • Show us how you will join/pledge to “Breathe Freely” by posting your photo using #CSUBBreatheFreely on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
      • Follow CSUB on Social Media: @csubakersfield
      • Get creative and post your photo using #CSUBBreatheFreely from August 31 – September 15, 2017 for a chance to win one of four $25 on-campus dining gift cards. Winners will receive either a Starbucks, Which Wich, Runner Café or Panda Express gift card.
      • The four winners will be announced on Monday, September 18, 2017.
  • Help us congratulate you if you have successfully stopped smoking during this initiative!

    • Between November 1st - 15th, students and staff/faculty at main campus and Antelope Valley Center that have stopped smoking will receive a $10 on-campus dining gift card and will be placed in one of two drawings (one drawing for students and one drawing for staff/faculty) for a $100 Visa gift card!
      • Main Campus: Students may go to the ASI office located in the Student Union Building to affirm this commitment and staff/faculty may go to the HR office in the Administration Building, room 104.
      • Antelope Valley Center: Students and staff/faculty may go to the front desk.
