The mission of Student Financial Services (SFS) is to provide CSUB students with information and services needed to manage their student accounts. Student Financial Services aims to effectively and efficiently invoice for student fees, collect student fees, and disburse financial aid. These activities serve students, faculty, staff and community while complementing the mission of CSU, Bakersfield. Overview The Student Financial Services Office is located in the Administration East Building of the main campus and is the central location for Cashiering and Student Financial Services. Cashiering Services is responsible for the receipt and deposit of all funds received on behalf of the University. This includes student registration fees, student housing payments, parking permits and outstanding debts owed to the University as well as departmental deposits and check disbursements. Student Financial Services is responsible for the disbursement of all Financial Aid and Short Term loans awarded by the University. In addition, the department oversees the Carl F. Perkins and Nursing Student Loan Programs. The Student Financial Services office is also responsible for the billing and collection of debts owed to the University. Fees & Debts Owed to the University A prospective student who registers for courses offered by the University is obligated to pay fees associated with registration for those courses. Failure to cancel registration in any course for an academic term prior to the first day of classes of the academic term gives rise to an obligation to pay student fees including any tuition for the reservation of space in the course. (See Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Section 41802) Failure to pay Registration fees by the due date may result in disenrollment from classes. Should a student, or former student, fail to pay a fee or a debt owed, the University may withhold permission to register; to use facilities for which a fee is authorized to be charged, to receive services, materials, food or merchandise, or any combination of the above from any person owing a debt to the University. (See Title 5, California Code of Regulations, Section 42380 and 42381)
