Congratulations!

On your provisional offer of admissions to California State University, Bakersfield! Here are a couple of things you're going to need to know as you navigate through the admissions process.

So now that you are admitted to CSUB what do you do next?

Step 1: Log in to Get Started

Log onto your myCSUB, it's your one-stop for all things when it comes to your academics at CSUB. Inside of your myCSUB you'll find information regarding your application status, your personal "To Do List" to complete your admissions, review your financial aid award, register for classes, and much more. Don't forget to review the admissions information you received in the mail (or will be receiving soon).

Step 2:  Submit Official Transcripts

Transcripts should be sent directly from the originating institution to the Office of Admissions. Transcripts submitted by the student are acceptable, if submitted in the original sealed envelope. Your official transcripts are needed to determine your admissions eligibility.

Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities you have attended or are attending now, as well as AP, IB, and/or CLEP scores. Some transcripts may have cousrework in progress. Admissions Evaluators/Advisors will verify all of the coursework you self-reported on your application. Transcripts can be submitted electronically or mailed to the following address:

All in-progress coursework must be completed by the end of the Spring 2016 quarter/semester. Final transcripts are due July 15, 2016 with Spring 2016 grades posted.

Step 3: Accept Your Offer of Admissions

Log into your myCSUB and accept your provisional offer of admissions by choosing the accept/decline link in the Admissions section of your Student Center and follow the instructions. Once you accept your provisional offer of admission you will receive important information on New Student Orientation, advising, and other campus information to help prepare to make the transition to CSUB in the mail. Please be sure to accept or decline your offer of admission no later than May 1, 2016. Accepting your offer early ensures you earlier information on signing up for  an upcoming orientation and better opportunity at meeting an academic advisor and choosing classes that fit your needs.

Step 4:  Confirm Your Enrollment

In addition to accepting your offer of provisional admission submit your Intent to Enroll Form. This reserves your place at CSUB. You must confirm your enrollment for the Fall 2016 by paying the $100 non-refundable deposit. The deposit will be applied toward your registration fees for Fall 2016. You may submit your Intent to Enroll Form and $100 (do not send cash) deposit to:

Intent to Enroll deposit is due May 1, 2016 for Fall 2016 admitted students. Note: Make sure your CSUB ID# (student ID) is on the form!!

Step 5:  Apply for Housing

If you're interested, CSUB Student Housing is more than just a place where residents reside, eat, and sleep. It is a community that promotes academic excellence, social enrichment, and personal growth. If you plan on living on campus, once you have paid your Intent to Enroll deposit, submit your housing application and housing deposit. Visit the housing website for more details about deadline dates and room types and room availability.

Step 6:  Register for New Student Orientation

Register for the New Student Orientation either online or by mail by the deadline. The New Student Orientation program will provide you with information to make a successful transition to CSUB. At the orientation you will have the opportunity to find out about academic programs, support programs and other resources available on campus. Plus, you'll get to tour the campus and connect with other students.

You must be admitted to the university prior to attending orientation. There is a mandatory New Student Orientation fee that is separate from and in addition to other deposits, registration fees, and tuition. Review the information about orientation in the packet that's sent to admitted applicants.

Step 7:  Schedule an Academic Advising Appointment

CSUB Academic Advisors specialize in helping undergraduate students understand the University's general education requirements, degree requirements, develop educational roadmaps, plan for future semesters, and help in solving academic challenges.

To schedule an academic advising appointment contact the Student Services Center of your intended department.

Students must be admitted to the university and registered for New Student Orientation before they can meet with an academic advisor.

Failure to adhere to any of the posted deadlines will result in your offer of admissions being revoked and courses canceled (if pre-registered).
