The first step after being admitted to CSUB AV is to attend an Orientation. All students must attend an Orientation in order to register for their first quarter classes. At Orientation students will receive information about the student services on our local campus, register for classes, and may have the opportunity to meet a faculty member from their major (if available). At this time, due to budget and time constraints it is not possible to meet with an academic advisor to have an in depth discussion of the classes required for their program of study, but students are encouraged to make an appointment for a later date. The University Advising Center (UAC) can help students choose classes for subsequent quarters by appointments Monday - Thursday or during walk-in hours on Fridays. Walk-ins are from 9am - 4pm, but students MUST be signed in by 3:30pm in order to be seen the same day. During Registration for proceeding quarters please see the ENEWS or call the Advising Center as walk-in hours will be altered to allow for better advising of continuing students. Resident faculty members of CSUB-AV are also available to assist students in this process.
Students are urged to be CSU General Education certified prior to applying and attending CSUB AV. All prerequisites and general education requirements must be taken at a community college. Students can make an appointment with a peer advisor in the UAC in order to confirm General Education completion as well as make sure all the prerequisites for their major have been met. Students are REQUIRED to visit the UAC at least once in an academic year to ensure they are on track to their personal graduation requirements. Call today to make an appointment at (661) 952-5010. The CSUB Antelope Valley Campus has the University catalog available for purchase at the front desk. The schedule of classes is usually available two weeks preceding registration and can be found online by logging into your MYCSUB (hyperlink to https://cmsweb.cms.csub.edu/psp/HBAKPRD/?cmd=login) account.
