Psychology 497—Cooperative Education (1-5 units)
Students engage in sponsored learning in a work setting that is
integrated with the academic setting. In other words, students
receive pay while doing their Applied Experience. Students must
obtain permission for this from the Applied Experience
Coordinator, Dr. Tanya Boone. Email Dr. Boone at
tboone@csub.edu
with the name of your employer, your position title, and a brief
description of your duties. In addition, indicate what
additional things you will experience and learn at your job
while enrolled in PSYC 497.
Students are expected to complete the following number of
cooperative education hours based on the number of units they
sign up for:
2 units = 40 hours during the
quarter
3 units = 60 hours during the
quarter
4 units = 80 hours during the
quarter
5 units = 100 hours during the
quarter
To enroll in this course:
1. Create an account in
RunnerLink.
2. Choose 3-5 placement
sites from the approved list for Psychology. To view a list of placement
locations,
click here. Submit your
resume to the sites you have chosen through RunnerLink.
3. Complete the mandatory
Electronic Orientation. If you
have any problems with this, please call the CECE office at
654-3033.
4. Upon successful
completion of the Orientation Quiz, you will receive an email
from
cece@csub.edu with instructions for enrolling in Psyc
496 and Psyc 395 (if appropriate). NOTE: You can NOT
register for these courses yourself; MyCSUB will not allow you
to do so.
Psychology 481—Directed Research in Psychology (1-5 units)
Work with a faculty member on a research project. To enroll, the
student and faculty supervisor must complete the appropriate
paperwork and submit it to the Applied Experience Coordinator,
Dr. Tanya Boone.
Psychology 498—Directed Study in the Instruction of Psychology
(1-5 units)
Get hands-on experience with teaching by working with a faculty
member as a teaching assistant. To enroll, the student and
faculty supervisor must complete the appropriate paperwork and
submit it to the Applied Experience Coordinator, Dr. Tanya Boone.
About
Psychology 395—Seminar in Applications of Psychology
In addition to completing the Applied Experience, students are
required to complete this 1-unit, online course. The purpose of
this course is for students to discuss their experiences, and to
explore issues of ethics in the Applied Experience. Some details
about this course:

This course is credit/no credit

The course occurs on
Blackboard,
with no class meetings
-
You must complete this course the same quarter you do your
Applied Experience. You will be signed up for it at the same
time you are signed up for the Applied Experience

If you choose to earn Applied Experience credits in subsequent
quarters, you do not have to repeat this course
-
If you do not earn credit for 395, you will have to repeat
it. This means you will also have to repeat your Applied
Experience!
