Accreditation  and New Programs of School of Business and Public Administration

NOTE: Of the 2400 Business Schools in North America, California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) is one of 450 that have earned professional accreditation for its bachelors and masters degrees from the prestigious “International Association of  Management Education” (AACSB).  CSUB, School of Business, is the only designated university to earn professional accreditation in Southern San Joaquin Valley and Kern County. Accreditation requires schools to meet a rigorous set of standards established for faculty, curriculum, instructional resources and facilities. For details, see WEB site at http://www.aacsb.edu

NOTE: The Finance Program of the School of Business and Public Administration, California State University, Bakersfield, is fully accreditation by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. The Board of Examiners approved CSUB’s B.S. in Business Administration degree with concentration in Finance as a registered program for a full three year term.  Currently only 50 undergraduate and graduate programs nationwide are accredited by CFP.  CSUB now joins that list as well as one of 13 accredited programs in California. The Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation is one of the highest and most rigorous professional designations within the financial services industry, analogous to the CPA in the accounting field.  To attain the CFP certification, candidates must meet high criteria in education, national examinations, work experience and a code of ethics. And, university degree programs must likewise meet high curriculum and quality standards.

NOTE: A new sports management concentration - including an emphasis in golf management - within the bachelor's degree in business administration has been approved at California State University, Bakersfield. The initial classes in the new specializations will be offered beginning with the fall 2001 quarter. The new concentration will be the first of its kind offered at any business school in California. CSUB Sports Management program will be the first devoted to sports management, services and industries offered at any business school within the 23-campus CSU or nine-campus University of California systems. The golf management emphasis in the concentration is being positioned for eventual accreditation from the PGA. Currently, only two schools west of the Mississippi River - Arizona State University and New Mexico State University - have PGA accredited programs. CSUB seeks to become the first university on the West Coast and only university in California to have a PGA accredited program.
